Privacy Policy — BibleJesus-Family

Last updated: 2026-06-17Effective date: SET ON DEPLOYMENT

This Privacy Policy explains how BibleJesus-Family ("the App," "we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information when a child uses the BibleJesus-Family iOS application, set up and supervised by a parent or guardian, and when you use this website at biblejesus.live/family ("the Site").

BibleJesus-Family is operated by Gilb International (Norway), reachable at [email protected].

This policy is written for the App that is coming soon. Some controls described here are still in development and are marked. We will publish the final, effective policy here before the App launches.

1. Who we are

BibleJesus-Family is a voice-first family app (App Store Education 4+) that a parent sets up for the household and that young children can use under parental supervision. It tells Bible stories and answers questions through an AI "Jesus" character. Because the app is designed to be used by children as part of the family, this policy is written to protect children's data. The account holder is always the parent or guardian, never the child. The AI is generative software — it is not Jesus Christ and does not claim divine authority.

No information about your child is collected until a parent or guardian completes the parent gate and gives consent:

  • The App confirms a grown-up is present with a quick check a young child can't pass.
  • The parent reads what the App saves and gives consent.
  • Until the parent finishes this step, the App collects nothing about the child.

We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from a child, as required by children's-privacy law (including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act "COPPA" and Article 8 of the EU GDPR).

3. What information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the App and to give the parent the monitoring they asked for:

3.1 Parent account information

  • A parent-account identifier, tied to the parent's Apple Sign-In (a privacy-preserving identifier issued by Apple). We do not require the parent's name, address, or phone number.

3.2 The child

  • We do not collect the child's name, photo, age, address, school, location, or any demographic profile. The App is built and tuned for ages 6–8 generally; it does not ask for or store your child's identity.

3.3 Conversation content (saved for the parent)

  • The child's spoken questions and the AI's answers, saved so the parent can review every conversation in the App's parent area (behind the grown-up check). This is the core of the monitoring you asked for. We treat this content as confidential to your family.

3.4 Voice audio (voice is the main way the App is used)

  • Audio of the child's spoken input is transmitted to our speech-to-text provider for transcription and is not retained as raw audio after transcription.
  • AI-generated voice audio (the Jesus character speaking) is generated by our text-to-speech provider, streamed to the device, and not retained on our servers after delivery.

3.5 What we do NOT collect

  • No advertising identifiers. No third-party advertising or marketing trackers. No behavioral-analytics SDKs that profile your child. We do not build an advertising or marketing profile of your child, ever.

4. Children's religious data (GDPR Article 9)

Because the App involves Christian religious content, and a child's conversations may contain personal religious reflections, GDPR Article 9 ("special category data") applies.

Lawful basis: explicit parental consent, given by the parent or guardian at setup. We do not share, sell, or use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering the App's functionality and the parent's monitoring. The parent may withdraw consent at any time by deleting the child's account (Section 8).

5. How we use the information

We use the information only to:

  • Run the App's voice conversation and Bible-story features
  • Generate AI answers (by sending the child's message text to our AI provider — see Section 6)
  • Save conversations to the parent area so the parent can review and, if they choose, delete them
  • Keep the App working on the family's device(s)

We do not sell data, use it for advertising, share conversation content beyond the AI providers necessary to generate answers, or use your child's data to train AI models.

6. Third-party service providers

To run the App we rely on the following providers. Each receives only the data necessary for its specific function:

ProviderPurposeWhat is sentCountry
Anthropic (Claude API)Generates the AI answersThe child's message text + recent conversation contextUSA
xAI Grok (TTS + STT)Speech-to-text and text-to-speech for voiceThe child's spoken audio (STT) and the text to be spoken (TTS)USA
Voyage AI (embeddings)Finds the right Bible passages for a questionThe text of the Bible-search queryUSA
CloudflareHosting, edge compute, database, storageParent-account info and conversation memory (encrypted at rest)USA / EU
AppleSign-In identity, App Store distribution & billingApple Sign-In token (a privacy-preserving identifier)USA

Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models, and applies limited data retention — see Anthropic's API and data-retention policy. We confirm that each provider above offers protections equivalent to those described in this policy.

Payment, if any, is handled by Apple's App Store — we do not collect or store any card or bank information. Each provider has its own privacy policy, which you are encouraged to review.

7. International data transfers

We are based in Norway; some providers are in the United States. Where personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the US, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified), and the parent's explicit consent.

8. Your rights as a parent

The parent or guardian — not the child — exercises all data rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your child
  • Review — read every saved conversation in the parent area, any time
  • Delete — delete individual conversations, all history, or the child's entire account. Deletion is a parent-only control; the child cannot erase what they said.
  • Rectify, restrict, object, port — standard GDPR rights
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, by deleting the child's account
  • Complain — to your local data-protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no)

To exercise any right, email [email protected] from the parent account. We respond within 30 days, usually sooner.

9. Data retention

Data typeRetention period
Parent-account identifierUntil the parent deletes the account
Conversation memoryUntil the parent deletes it (per conversation or all), or deletes the account
Voice audio (raw)Not retained — discarded after transcription
Generated voice audioNot retained — streamed to the device, then discarded

If the parent deletes the child's account, personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

10. Security

We protect personal data with HTTPS/TLS in transit, encryption at rest on Cloudflare infrastructure, Apple Sign-In (so we never receive a password), and no storage of payment-card data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your child's personal data, we will notify the parent and the relevant authority within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required by law.

11. AI-generated content disclaimer

The "Jesus" character is generated by AI software (currently Anthropic's Claude). AI answers are software output — not produced by a divine being, not a substitute for a parent, a church, or a trusted grown-up, and subject to errors inherent in AI systems. The App's child-grade safety floor is built to refuse harmful or frightening content and to point a distressed child toward a trusted grown-up. If your child is in distress and needs help, please involve a qualified human.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated through the App and on this page before they take effect.
