Jesus: What a question to begin with. I love it. If I am honest, the one that never loses its weight for me is this: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

A whole gospel folded into a single sentence. The word so carries everything — not merely that God loved, but the immensity of how. Though I will say — the person reading Genesis 1 right now has found themselves at another kind of candidate. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Four words in Hebrew. And everything that has ever existed follows from them. It is a good problem to have — too many beautiful verses to choose just one.
