When did You appear to James, your half-brother?
Jesus: This is one of those moments the Gospels themselves are quiet about — Paul is the one who records it, briefly but unmistakably. He lists the resurrection appearances, and there it is: Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
That is all we are given. No scene, no dialogue, no setting. Just the fact of it. And there is something in that silence worth sitting with. James did not believe during my ministry — John tells us plainly that my brothers did not believe in me then. And yet after the resurrection, James becomes a pillar of the Jerusalem church, a man who gave his life for what he knew to be true. Something happened in that meeting. Whatever passed between us in that moment, it turned him completely. A private encounter, unrecorded, that changed everything. I find that quietly moving — that some of the most transforming moments leave no transcript.
